I just received a 6-speed, and it's a bit louder than I expected. There's only one gear combination that doesn't produce noticeable clicking, as if the internal hub is always "coasting" to some extent. The jockey pulleys also continuously make noise from bumping against the chain.
I test rode a few at the store, and I don't remember this much clicking. Was I just not paying attention during the test ride, or is there something wrong with my bike?

The upside is, you can tell what gear you’re in by the clicking sound.
