Does anyone else suck up when they see these two road signs in quick succession? I recently completed a 5 day solo bike tour in CA (loaded with gear) and learned to dislike this sign combo. I’m posting this because I’m curious what seasoned riders think and also as a PSA for other newbies.

Yeah, it’s a bad recipe. Really, share the road hasn’t done much good in my neck of the woods…it seems to piss off drivers, and excuse the city from proper bike infrastructure.
Since I usually see them on roads like highway 1 that also has heavy RV traffic, yes – it makes me pucker also.
Cars are only willing to share the road with you if it does not inconvenience them in any way. So on these twisty roads, they will just pass, safe or not.
No one really shares the “road”. When l see this sign l immediately move to the middle of said road to ensure not being hit. I also have a helmet camera now to capture if l get hit while riding.
In the US. I’d never seen this pair till I vacay’d in CO.
I rolled with a great deal of apprehension and constantly watched my mirror. Surprisingly, relative to 99% of drivers in the New England, drivers were super courteous.
When drivers say “Share the road” they mean “Get out of my way!”
When cyclists say “Share the road” we mean “Would you mind terribly not killing us today?”
Since getting flashing lights in the colors of the US flag, it hasn’t really been much of an issue. Showing your patriotism in the US has many benefits especially from drivers.
To be honest, no. I don’t really pay attention to road signs since cars don’t really seem to pay attention to them either. If I get hit and die, at least I died doing something I love.
To me “suck up” means “to flatter or subordinate yourself”. What do you mean by it?
