Hey! I would like to preface this by saying I have extremely minimal knowledge about bikes. I have been training for triathlons for ~1 year now and decided it’s time to finally invest in a better bike. I’ve gone to several shops near me to try things out and get advice, and I’ve settled on a Trek Madone. In looking online, I see many of this same bike with different variations and frankly I have no clue what the differences are. I’m between these two bikes now, could anyone give their advice on which is better and why? Are these good prices? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!!

That’s a great bike however the price is at the top of the range a seller could expect. The trade-in value is less than $1000.00 Selling it on the private market could go anywhere from $1,200.00 to $2,500.00 typically.
Those are a whole lotta bike! Maine difference between the two are the brake systems. The cheaper one has carbon rim brake which has its advantages and disadvantages. Firstly, I’m a big fan of mechanical disk brake for convenience purposes (almost* set and forget). Rim brakes are generally cheaper to maintain and service however, good luck finding carbon rim brakes if a wheel ever craps out. Hydraulics “give you better performance” but unless you’re bombing big hills, I wouldn’t recommend.
You’d be getting a better bang for your buck with the hydraulic version but I’d prefer the rim brake.
Although, I wouldn’t get the Madone in rim brake just cuz the brakes are not the best imo.

This is quite an aggressive race bike for your first bike.
Looks like second one is using SRAM Red. Top groups set but maybe went shaper with wheels. If you are really set in this. Disc one is the way to go. Can find parts easier than ultegra cable bake levers which are going extinct.
Be sure the headset and all that feels good. Those are a nightmare and $$$ to get serviced. But upside, looks very tidy !
