It’s a shame that the government here is boasting about all the new cycling paths, when they’re incredibly narrow shared use paths and very inadequate and small dedicated sections like this.
In another part of the city I’ve endured a journey down one of these new paths and I can feed back:
Many quite jarring/steep ramps down to road level for every car park and drive way, would make it dangerous for small wheeled vehicles like e scooters. I wouldn’t fancy my Brompton on it either.
Narrow shared path doesn’t solve the common complaint of pedestrians getting buzzed by speeding e-bikes on the sidewalk (and I don’t want to gingerly go past everyone either!)
The paths end abruptly before bus shelters, good luck getting past!
Nonsensical crossing of the main road. Sure thing punish active mobility users by having to stop to cross the road every 200 metres!
It’s a real shame because there are a few areas where it’s really good. So we know the gov has the ability to make good infrastructure. They’re just making a choice to kill it with compromises.
