I recently purchased an old Carlton Cobra from the original owner who bought it in England in 1973 (image 2). I was excited to move parts from my Raleigh Grand Sport onto the Carlton but realized the Carlton uses the traditional Raleigh threading for its headset and bottom bracket (26 TPI vs 24) 🤦🏻♂️ (https://www.sheldonbrown.com/raleigh26.html)
Would you go through the trouble of dealing with this issue (e.g., finding a suitable square tapered bottom bracket), or stick with the original Raleigh frame? I enjoy the look of the Carlton, but alas I don’t want to spend hundreds just to get it up and running.
