  1. Black line is supposed to be an indicator I believe. If it feels curved then it could be worn out, new brake pads would be a good idea – they suck up metal shavings and wear out the rims faster.

    Take the tire off and inspect the inside for cracks. If it’s cracked, it’ll likely be in the middle where the wear indicator is. Any cracking at all means it’s cooked, if there are no cracks I’d say it’s okay to use.

    With the tire off, you can hold something straight up against the brake surface. A gap indicates wear. Take a photo, compare to the front, and check it again in a month or so
