I was looking at the GT bikes and fell in love with the color scheme of the gray/orange avalanche sport. I think an orange Fox 34 would look great on the front.

This would be my first bike that I upgrade the parts on it myself rather than ride it stock, so can anyone with more knowledge give me an idea if this would fit? I’m embarking on a YouTube rabbit hole now. Thanks!

You have a tapered headtube/headset, so yeah you can install the fork into the frame. But the Fox 34 uses a different front wheel axle, so you would need a new hub (or more conveniently, a new wheel). On top of that the Fox 34 fork would probably be bigger than the stock 100mm travel, which is okay up to a point (like going from 100 up to 120 is likely fine), but will alter the geometry and the riding stance of the bike a little bit, the front will be raised up a few centimeters taller
I have the same bike. If you want to upgrade the shock you essentially have to a new front wheel as well. I haven’t been able to find any decently modern air forks with a tapered steerer tube and QR dropouts.
