Good day all, my tire has 65 psi written on it, is this the recommended pressure or maximum pressure tolerated.

Also, my tire pump comes with a gauge and I am not sure if it's in psi or not (see attached) and the tire gets very stiff at 30 psi, on some websites it says the tire should be at around 50 psi, is that possible or will the tire explode if it already says 30 psi and the tire is stiff.
Is my gauge broken? Is it in a different unit other than psi?

  1. 65 is the max. Don’t run anywhere close to that. Don’t visit a website that says mtb tires should be 50psi. The gauge is in psi. Try 22-25.

Looks like psi on the left and bar on the right. 65 sounds high even with tubes. Are these narrow tires or something?

  3. Don’t go anywhere near 65, you’re running tubeless I’d go between 23-28 psi. If you have tubes you might wanna stay around 30. If you think your gauge is broken I’d take your bike to a shop and see if they can check with their own gauge

  4. highly recommend you get a quality tire gauge, those kinds of tire gauge for those hand pump are notoriously inaccurate and imprecise with very hard to read large intervals.

Is max pressure, but check the max pressure of the rim, it often is less and can get damaged
