I set out with a goal of hitting 20 miles. I’ve been close, 16-18, but haven’t clinched the 20 mile accolade yet (if that’s even a thing).
Intended on sticking to roads and crushing the miles at a faster pace, but a gravel trail turned to single track, turned to taking a wrong turn and riding down an unofficial trail. Slick wet densely packed leaves, steep descent, hidden roots, sheer drop off….. took a tumble and barked the life out of my shins on the top tube. Happy for my little first aid kit for some rapid pain relief. Got one heck of a welt on my left shin though.
By the time I was back near home I was at 18.7 miles, partly due to forgetting to resuming my route on Kamoot, lost a mile and a bit. As punishment for my stupidity, I extended the route and grabbed a bit to eat at a local coffee shop/bakery.
26 (~27) miles, 1,400ft going up (plus a climb that wasn’t captured).
Next up, 30.
