This was the hell of a trip: A loop through the mountains
of southern Norway, then from just
above the arctic circle all the way to Nordkapp and beyond,
until I ran out of land at Vardø. You wouldn’t believe it, that
place, while still in Norway and Schengen, is east of all of
Finland, east of St. Petersburg.
Finally back through the length of Finland to Turku.
So many reindeer, so much sun and blue sky, so many
ferries. In a decade or so of regular touring I never had
so much fun on the bike!
The picture is of Storekorsnes where I camped out on the old
Nazi fortress which nowadays features this tiny lighthouse.
It’s on a small crag that is surrounded by the Altafjord in three
direction so the view of the sea is superb from up there!
