I wear prescription glasses… Looking for a ski helmet with a built in visor and adjustable vents. There's a few on the market but none appear to have a clear replacement visor which I consider a must-have.

Salomon/ Smith/ Bolle all have nice ones – just handicapped by availability of clear replacement lens.

Any recommendations?

Ps. New to fatbiking. First ride on fresh snow yesterday.

  1. Giro makes one too. I have the Giro one. I haven’t tried it for biking but what a great idea! However I do not have a clear visor, just a light yellow tint one.

Almost all of these helmets have a weakness of getting snow stuck in the visor if you open it while it’s snowing. It would be easier to clean it out biking than skiing/snowboarding though.

  2. I wear a mountain bike helmet with a visor. Then you can layer with a beanie, balaclava, or both! Get one with an adjustable fit so you can accommodate the layering. You can wear it in the summer too!

Edit: my ski goggles fit fine. The strap can either go around the helmet or sit just above the top of your neck. The latter holds the hat close to your ears for warmth.

  3. You could also consider prescription inserts for ski goggles. My kids used them regularly for snowboarding and DH mountain biking. We ordered them from SportRX, but there are other brands that make them as well. You provide them with your prescription and make and model of goggles, and they’ll build them based on those specs
