  1. Hi, Patrick. Glad your trip going well. Following you from almost very beginning. Let me know if you happen to be around the Kruger National Park in South Africa. I am very near by the Malalane and Numbi Gate and would be glad to welcome you and Algirdas.

  2. Beautiful East Africa I lived in Tanzania from 6ths to 1yr my Dad moved there in 1953 before the days of tourisim lived in Ifunda tells me stories of being surrounded by wildlife without people .That has changed plenty people nowadays not so much wildlife. I never did get to see Tanzania much is the pity as the Kenya / Tanzania border was closed political reasons when I lived in Kenya . Yes you definatly cycled some lovly areas but Im waiting for the day you meet Tsetse and his million mates 🀣 Intresting about your friend in Namibia something not many people every think about, toileting issues ,look forward to seeing his segment on your journey πŸ‘

  3. Nice to see that you are well again. I think I could not sleep at all there, if I had read, that there are lions around. I do not want to be their breakfast πŸ™‚ Brave, Patrick!

  4. 17:58. Oh my gosh so dang cute! What delightful children. <3
21:05. Why are the little boys collecting plastic bottles? Are they able to get some form of refund for. them and make money?
22:50 Wow, that big fancy supermarket and no food in it. Worrying.
Huh. I wonder where those rocks came from? I mean, it's not like it's a mountainous area. Bizarre. Glacial erratics? Were there glaciers there aeons ago that deposited them? Seems unlikely, but my geology isn't good.
I'm grateful for you sharing the realities of the road. It makes a much better video to know the difficulties as well as the good stuff. I must admit I'm a bit worried about you. You look to have lost a significant amount of weight and seem very tired. I hope you are able to take several rest days to let your body recover. Concerning your nausea/lack of appetite, I wonder if you have caught some sort of virus or maybe parasite? If it continues I hope you will seek medical care so you can recover and be strong and healthy and enjoy the rest of your journey.
Ride on, Patrick! Always love your videos and the spectacular views.

  5. I'm happy you are feeling stronger. I was worried it might be something serious but you seem to have recovered. Hopefully you will soon be in an area with more food available – it is a lot to cycle all day and not be able to eat enough. I like that you include the harder side of cycle touring too though; there is so much to love about it but it is not always easy. Take care of yourself.

  6. Hey Patrick! Just watched the latest videos and Iβ€˜m happy to see you still having your glasses on and managed to not shattering them! Hope you stay healthy in the future to have an awsome Trip! Greetings from Regensburg from the Girl who sold you the glasses!

  7. Great video but that looked tough. You are looking quite thin now. Was really worried when you were clearly ill that you might pass out. It is good and sensible you are cycling as a pair. You can look out for each other. You are clearly not able to eat enough, little quality food seems to be available which we take for granted in developed Europe. I am worried you are not eating enough protein or healthy vegetables. I know you cannot be fussy if you cannot find food, but try not to each too much tinned tuna because tuna is a big fish meaning it can have high levels of toxins in it eg Mercury. Ok if you eat it once in a while, but regularly not so good. If you can buy tinned sardines, mackerel or even salmon if you can even find it, as these are much smaller fish with potentially much lower levels of contaminants and are better for you than tuna. A good and safe source of protein. I don't know if fresh eggs are available in bigger towns in cities? Also a good source of protein, fats and other essential nutrients. I think I would have 4 eggs for breakfast each day to give me the strength and stamina to ride all day every day.Β

It strikes me that your nutrition is the most important thing in your day as you are cycling pretty much the whole day every day. Also good clean water lots of it. Do you have a purifier or tablets to purify water? I think I would stock up with a lot of food if and when I found a good supermarket with food actually in it. Can you get oranges, lemons or limes? It is important to keep your vitamin C levels high so as not to let your immune system become compromised, plus lemons and limes have so good for you eg healthy gums and skin, wounds heal much more quickly, many other health benefits anti-oxidants and flavonoids. Maybe when you reach South Africa the food situation will improve massively? Eating just boiled pasta every evening is not good. I realise you might have to as you cannot get any other food. Fresh onions are good if and when you can find them. Any fresh vegetables. Just wash them with clean water. Pasta and noodle type foods really are crap. You need proper cooked food. I realise Africa must be hard. It breaks many cycle tourists. Still it could be worse. It could be raining then the roads would turn into mud baths making progress impossibly slow.

Namibia is a beautiful country, but also hard as the landscape is so beautifully barren with I believe huge distances between towns and cities. I followed another guy, a Dutch guy, cycling through Namibia and he was a well seasoned cycle tourist, but he found Namibia very hard indeed.Β

Why can't you stay in accommodation every other night to at least give you time to recover and hopefully get good food and stock up for when you wild camp? It can't be that expensive if you are sharing. Africa is supposed to be cheap.Β

    All the best.

  9. This was on British Cycling website:
β€˜Your digestive system requires a supply of blood to function but, if your working leg muscles are demanding too much, your body will reduce the supply to your gut and digestion will slow down or even stop. Any food will remain in the stomach, additional food you try to eat will pile up leaving you feeling bloated and nauseous. β€˜
It recommends little and often. Glad you are feeling better. Super filming as ever.

  10. Great cinematic filming and editing. Love it! Hope you feel better. Always difficult with the malaria or parasites to know what is under the skin. Take it easy if needed in this beautiful country.

  11. I hope that two days of rest has given you back the strength and appetite to continue your wonderful journey south. It is an experience to sit on the first floor of your camera and get to follow!

  12. And, … more weight has come off, Patrick. πŸ™‚ Don't overdo it and weaken your body. You need a week off now, with plenty of food. I see that you might have an offer below. Kind man, if so. Take care!

  13. Bra jobbat Patrick! Har fΓΆljt din resa genom Afrika och kan se att du Γ€r nu i en riktig skΓΆn cykel "groove". Livet kΓ€nns enkelt och trivsamt och det Γ€r hΓ€rligt att ta del av.
