The Gowaan Gals, Bex Baraona and Chloe Taylor, faced every rider’s worst nightmare earlier this year when their home was broken into and over £40,000 worth of bikes, equipment, and components were stolen.
In this clip, Bex and Chloe share their emotional and shocking story of the break-in, the impact it had on their racing season, and the incredible twists that followed – including tracking one stolen bike all the way to Ukraine and miraculously getting it back!
With support from brands like YT, Fox, and Shimano, the Gowaan Gals found a way to keep racing and finish their season strong. This inspiring and quirky story highlights their resilience, determination, and the sense of community within the MTB world.

What are your experiences with bike theft in the UK and elsewhere? It seems to be an increasing issue over the last few years. I'd also love to hear your top tips for keeping your bikes safe.
I'm Ukrainian, and it's embarrassing that stuff happened – sorry to hear that
I only buy official bikes, and even though I have to pay extra to get some bike imported via customs.
My current bike is an RM Instinct – and I had to buy it through a friend from Fanatik and ship afterwards.
