I am tall and thin but my sit bones are wide. I prefer a slightly wider saddle than most but wide (comfort) saddles can be problematic on longer rides. How do people with wife sit bones get around this?
If it doesn’t match up with your sit bones it could even be too narrow.

You’ve tried some from the wider versions of saddles that come in different widths?

I found more comfort in a flexible but firm saddle where the wings flex downwards rather than by going wider. I went with a selle Italia saddle that is pretty flexible, in a 135ish width and was pleasantly surprised. It is a racing saddle more so than endurance and yet I was more comfortable on it doing my first 100 miler than I’ve been on gravel saddles. I followed advice I found on Reddit about the fit and shape being more important than width or padding and landed on a good one. Also solid bibs / shorts that fit you well. I hate to plug lecol because they’re overpriced but I got their lightweight summer bibs and I found the pad was perfect. Best of luck and safe cycling!

Fatness of ass divided by 2 is the preferred method for finding ideal seat width.

How wide is too wide? Wider than *your* sit bones. Seriously, people need different saddle widths.

143mm for me. Your ass might be different.

I have a big-ass, wide, comfort saddle which I find comfortable on my long rides – I ride regularly 100-150++km days. I just can’t do thin road saddles. People say they’re somehow better for long rides. My body disagrees… and you gotta learn to listen to your body if you’re a regular cyclist.

Get your sit bones measured at a bike shop.

You don’t necessarily have to pick a t-shaped saddle to get a wide middle, to you? My favorite saddle is a pretty straight wedge and a t-shape like that which fits me chafes too much. If that’s your problem, look at racing saddles.

Anything that is wider than the seatpost.

If its too wide my shorts bunch up and start impacting parts that I don’t want impacted

Generally speaking, a LARGE road saddle would be in the 155mm width range. So, most saddles are narrower than that. Personally, I use a large.

It needs to fit your sit bones, which is a function of your bone structure nothing else

It all depends on your riding position.

Depends on the height to the handlebars and your own anatomy.

If your in a forward position going too wide only causes chaffing on your inner cheek/thigh.

Looks crazy wide to me, but my ass is not your ass. I ride a Specialized 3D Romin Evo 143 and it’s perfect.
Generally you want your sit bones on the saddle.
I just had to borrow a bike with a wide saddle like that and my tailbone was killing me.
But ya know what, if it works for you, it works for you.

If this saddle helps go for it, ask for dimensions and do a measure of sitbones. Change the bike fit as now you’ll be having a relaxing position

Try it out! How does it feel? That looks pretty softly padded IMO, which is actually disadvantageous in the long run. I find that you need to give a saddle 2 weeks UNLESS it is causing numbness or pain, then immediately cease and desist. Not a bad idea to be measured at a good bike shop. 143-155mm are common saddle widths. A good saddle should allow you to ride for hours with no pain or numbness apart from standing up occasionally. And more expensive does not always mean better. Find a saddle that fits and buy 2 of them. The pressure relief channel down the center of new saddles is such a welcome addition.
