Epic HT with drop bars, I like it. How does it ride, compared to a regular gravel bike?

The only issue I could see from a gravel perspective is that the XX1 and mountain bike front chainring being too small for a lot of gravel stuff (unless its basically just climbs or he wants to do some single track type of stuff) no? I have played around with the idea of doing this type of thing but I wanted to have a bigger front ring and unless I am mistaken the XPLR stuff wont fit on it correct?
