This has been an issue ever since I replaced the chain on my bike. Any ideas why it’s happening or how to resolve? Is this normal for a brand new chain and it just needs to break in?

There’s a little tab on the rear derailleur the chain should be under it not over it. Is it routed correctly?

Looks like chain suck, was the chainring worn? Did the previous chain wear out before it was changed?
Is that link in the chain sticky?
Yep, that’s called chainsuck. Your chainring is worn out
Looks like the same spot on the chainring keeps holding onto the chain. I’d check to see if any chainring teeth have damage and file down any burrs I found
Common sign of mismatch in wear. I assume new chain, old chain ring
The only time I see this other than chainring wear is a very gritty chain where sand or something similar adds grip between the inner walls of the chain and the ring. Since this is on a trainer and doesn’t look dirty, the other assessments here are probably spot on.
