I’ll post additional details and edit this comment later, but I had the idea to ask people in /r/CLT_Cyclists if they wanted to participate in a bike tour to go and visit the Rock Hill Velodrome and some other sites in South Carolina.
I had gotten a ton of interest and enthusiasm, and eventually we got everything sorted out and figured out. We biked from the upper most part of Charlotte to Pineville, NC, to Fort Mill, SC, and then into Rock Hill, SC. There were a ton of cool sites and we were fortunate enough that the staff at the Velodrome actually gave us a pretty in-depth tour. We camped out at a KOA cabin overnight and then packed up and headed straight back north to enjoy the rest of our Sunday!
It was a little difficult/dicey navigating parts of South Carolina, mainly because the roads are super busy in that section and there’s not much bike infrastructure, but it was still a great time. Very happy to have met so many amazing people.
