How do I remove this chainring?

I'm trying to remove the direct mount chainring from my Aventon Aventure 2. I have a BB tool that seems to fit the splines perfectly, but I'm not sure if this will be a right or left handed thread. The crank arms were really hard to remove because there was no grease used. It's likely this will also require a lot of force to remove.

Do I turn this clockwise or counterclockwise to remove?
