After almost a decade, I need to make some changes. Advice needed.

After almost a decade I finally decided to pull out my bike from storage. Lots of things have changed since the last time I rode. I'm now sober, and have a wife and two year old daughter. That said, I've been itching to ride again. This time though, I want to add a front brake for obvious reasons. Can any of you make any suggestions? I'm not familiar with what's currently available or new in terms of bike parts/components. Please suggest a front brake system. Plus points if I don't have to drill a hole into the fork. Also, i don't want to wear cleats anymore so I'll go for a pedal cage and strap setup. Suggestions for those would be great too. Thanks!
