I installed a thru axle dropout set on my bike and tried to install the new wheels I bought but something’s not right. There’s too much space on the non-drive side of the rear wheel . If I tighten the axle the spokes hit the frame. It’s supposed to be 12×142. What am I missing? Is the hub too narrow? Never used thru axles. Feeling kinda dumb right now.

Are they boost wheels?
My guess, without having a measurement of that axle, is that it has the wrong end caps installed. And although rare, I occasionally come across 135mm rear thru axle wheels, which it seems like you might have there
Someone who is familiar with the wheels and possibly also the frame can probably give a direct answer. But I can give you a tip: When things don’t line up you need to start measuring to see if something is out of spec. Big help in troubleshooting. Use vernier caliper and measure the hub and frame spacing and go from there.
Maybe someone switched the endcaps left/right?
im looking at my Elitewheels, and that endcap looks way too short compared to the one i have, measure the endcap to endcap width, it should be around 142mm.
customer service for elitewheels is pretty good tho, they sell spares and have all the replacement parts available.
check if you have not misplaced an edncap on the frontwheel or something, just in case.
What axle size was in the listing for the wheels? These could be 135×12 where you need 142×12.
