During the 2024 edition of the Monza Rally Show many famous drivers decided to tackle the temple of speed, including also people coming from different disciplines, such as Marco Bonanomi, Marco Butti and Kevin Gilardoni, which are used to race on track, but also the 9-time MX GP champion Tony Cairoli, who took part at its seventh Monza Rally Show
But probably the most suprising appearance comes from someone who hasn’t really been involved in motorsport racing, Vincenzo Nibali. The Italian cycling legend is one of the 7 cyclists who have won all three of cycling’s Grand Tours in their career – having won the 2010 Vuelta a España, the 2013 Giro d’Italia, the 2014 Tour de France and the 2016 Giro d’Italia
At the Monza Rally Show, Nibali was driving a Toyota Yaris R1T 4X4 navigated by Alessandro Franco, racing in a grid full of Rally2. Despite the lack of experience, Vincenzo managed to keep the pace with some Skoda Fabias at the bottom of the standings despite a car with much less power and aero, managing also to regain precious seconds on the wet stages, before eventually having to stop on the 8th and penultimate stage of the rally with a technical problem forcing him to stop at the Sopraelevata straight
