    Anyone of you still using bottle dynamos? I grew up with it and want to upgrade my bike with one – any suggestions?

      I was one of the early backers of the [Magnic Microlights](https://www.magniclight.com/index.php/de/). I don’t know what your use case is but for rear lights I will never go back. For the front, well, the velogical guy has been pushing hard on reddit. I’m not sold. There are several [companies](https://www.cyclingabout.com/rim-dynamos-can-now-generate-more-power-than-hub-dynamos/) making rim style dynamos. I would go with for SON if at all possible.

      The one you show is, as far as I know, the best value option currently in the market. Quiet, cheap, double wiring front and rear. The rubber head wears relatively fast but spares are available. 

      Most other manufacturers have abandoned the bottled dynamo market. BUMM used to make the Dymotec 6, but it was expensive and not much better than the AXA above. Buy hub dynamo lights. The only difference is that they come with a switch, and then you’re ready if you upgrade in the future.

      In my local market however, it’s easy to find cheap used dynamo wheels, and winter nights are long, so I no longer have bottled dynamos. Only a spare bike by my in-laws, that came with it, and it’s only sparingly used in the dark. 

      Each time I need a new dynamo, I just buy a cheap used bike with dynamo hub, swap the front wheel, and resell the bike, often at a similar price.
