I understand that the rear wheel is likely too largev, but there’s no excuse for that front wheel to feature anything other than one Mr. William H. Bonkers.
People deny this is what peak male athleticism looks like

My knees hurt just looking at that pic.

So theoretically, if I build a similar ride, without the car support, could I easily go 60-70 km/h? I assume this would be considered extremely dangerous and very inefficient in a city where you constantly need to slow down and speed up.

I want to say yes, but no. It’s not.

Mad bugger.
It’s not just that the lead car provides shelter from the air in these mad record attempts, but as I understand it, the vortices produced as the air flows over the back of the car actually suck you along.
The current record is held by Denise Mueller-Korenek who set a speed of 296.009 km/h in 2018 on Bonneville salt flats.
[In this article her coach John Howard talks bollocks](https://www.bicycling.com/news/a23281242/denise-mueller-korenek-breaks-bicycle-speed-record/) (as usual) about her training and endurance. Every other comparable cycling speed record, like the 200m sprint or 4000m pursuit is held by a man. If this were just about leg speed & power, the record would still be held by a man, but it’s not. It’s about the size of your gonads and Mueller-Korenek’s are clearly hard as steel and the size of grapefruit.

This but with a clutch so a smaller chainring can spin the bigger chainring that’s actually a 30 lb fly wheel. Delete brakes obviously.

No… this is stupidity
I’d argue not. It’s peak performance cycling.
