Hello, new here. I’m looking for a used entry level mountain bike for my 22 year old daughter. She took a job over the summer at the Hiawatha Trail in Idaho. In her job she biked the 16 mile trail everyday and loved it. She is now home to continue her degree and has expressed interest in a MTB. She currently uses a beater bike to ride to her gym about 5 miles one way, she pushes that bike hard but I know she would like to have something a lot more suited. She’s expressed that she likes to go fast and something she can also offroad with. I would like to surprise her with a starter bike and she can go from there if she’s really into it. She is 5’7 about 140lbs, athletic build. She is also a little bit of a dare devil and loves adrenaline rushes, so I’m also trying to find something safe for her. My budget allows for $100 max, I know I’m limited. Taking your advice I have narrowed my search down to a Specialized Crossroads Trail and a Giant Boulder and would love to know your opinions and advice before going to check them out. I am a similar build to her. Both bikes happen to be sold by the same seller. He says they are tuned and ready to ride. The Specialized bike says new tires and tubes, I was able to make out the name on the tires (Yunscm) and found them on Amazon selling for 2 tires and tubes for around $55, the reviews say the tires are ok but many people reported the tubes popping not too long after riding or when they first had to put air in. He has great reviews and seems to do this for a living or supplemental income.
