So my kid has learned to ride a bike (first grandkid, and has been super excited about it), and coincidentally my mother has a renewed interest in riding her bike. Awesome!

After one ride, she kind of started hinting that she wished the bars were higher, shifting worked better, and brakes worked at all. A better son may have understood this as a request for a new bike for Christmas, but my mind went directly to "hey that 1997 hardrock you've been riding for 17 years is actually great base…"

Fast forward a few weeks and here it is. How'd I do??

  1. If the bike fits her then just getting it fully functional will be a big upgrade! Aesthetically I do wish the tire walls matched, but getting her brakes actually functional again was definitely more important
