Hi, I'm looking to buy my first bike. Thinking 75% road use and 25% dirt and easy gravel. I would prefer more relaxed geometry instead of aggressive. Budget is around $900.
I've looked into some new and local used market options in my size and would appreciate this group's thoughts.
- Used Fuji Sportif 1.3 2014 – $550. Tiagra 2×10. Tire clearance 35mm.
- New Poseidon Dropbar Redwood currently on sale for $500 + tax.
- Used Trek Domane AL 2 Rim $800.
And my thoughts:
- The Fuji seems in good condition (new cassette and chain). The seller is including both road and gravel tires. Tire clearance is ok but not great.
- I worry I wouldn't like the Poseidon geometry. Some reviewers say it's on the aggressive side. Also component quality is a concern.
- The Domane might be a good option if it had disc brakes but I don't think this is good value for my purposes.
I also wouldn't be riding much until the Spring so if none of these seem like a deal I can wait and watch the market longer.
