Brompton c line 6 speed. Internal hub gear doesn’t change when I shift it . I saw these two pieces dangling. Is there a piece in the middle or should I just pull them together?

They screw together, I don’t see any missing pieces. I would look up a YouTube video on how to adjust the sturmy archer. It’s easy but can take a minute to figure out.
