  1. This (picture in other comment) is on the vintage-trek websites that breaks down the serial number. Perhaps yours falls into this exception, and the date isn’t stamped? That would kinda suck if so, makes it harder to narrow down.

    Otherwise it seems to indicate that it is a Trek 510, built in May, with a 19.75″ seat tube. According to the same website, the headbadge was glued on starting in 1980, which is the same year that they switched to a different serial number system. So that seems to indicate that your bike must be a 1980 model.
