THE SHARPS’ WAR tells the never-before-told story of Waitstill and Martha Sharp, an American minister and his wife from Wellesley, Massachusetts, who left their children behind in the care of their parish and boldly committed to a life-threatening mission in Europe. Over two dangerous years they helped save scores of imperiled dissidents and refugees fleeing the Nazi occupation across Europe.

  1. Woohh dont poo poo the British people blame the British Goverment US Government didnt do anything to help either
There was one man who was British an managed to get over 600 Jewish children to rhe UK Nickys chuldren

  2. Tom Hank's unmistakably warmth (even if it's merely a credible impersonator). Such a blessing to watch a professionally produced documentary, in an ocean of non-content clickbait. Thank you PBS

  3. Look at France, Germany, Italy and Austria and Hungary still embracing far right that looks normal but they are not and they will never been, people should reject those extremists there is no space in the world for free violence, zero tolerance we need inclusion and we all need to avoid to be simply bystanders it won't pass if you do not do anything to reject it

  4. Still, watching these films of war, as if its the first time😢😢😢Respect for all who served, faught for us, saved many but not forgetting the ones who were murdered😢😢😢and lost their lives serving in different capacities.

  5. Very moving, informative, and educational. Sadly, the British political scene appears to be on the cusp of matching Germany before Hitler, and Spain just before the Spanish Civil War, and there may be a need for more Sharps!

  6. Hindi story very danger set the family life story about the families own life story as a legend it's all about a woman set her life job thank 🙏💞

  7. Los seres humanos como animales. Y hoy, 2024 nuevamente vemos las atrocidades de los terroristas…. y gente alabandolos. Son mounstros

  8. This is sad on so many levels, enriching on many others. What an amazing couple, both together and as individuals. The world needs people with their courage, morality, intelligence & integrity, even more so today. Thank you for making and sharing this.

  9. But the rescue was more for the privilege not for the poor. So the hundreds of Jews who escaped were mostly well educated and in high paying jobs middle class families who could buy their freedom so the poorer families and children were the ones that were left back mostly. Is only with GOD u can't buy ur freedom all in the church money talks

  11. It seems that the mass of the object causes time to slow down, not the speed of the object. For example, if a photon races with a compressed galaxy, both will reach their destination together. In the world of photon, because time is fast, it can move at the speed of light, and in the world of a compact galaxy, because time is slow, it can move at the speed of light. Outside of these two worlds, the speed of photon and the speed of compressed galaxy are equal. Of course, speed increases mass

  12. Truely inspiring. Their belief in Freedom of thought in the use of reason and tolerance of difference is so inspiring. What a shame their marriage suffered in the end due to their commitment to helping others.

  13. Wonderful story. One thiung, though: there is simply no way they could have travelled from the Pyrinees to Madrid in FOUR hours. Nowadays the trip takes slightly more on the ultramodern wide track high-speed train! In 1940, with coal engines and narrow tracks it would have taken more like 24 hours, and changing trains twice, in Barcelona and Saragossa, at least.

  14. History is full of evil and greedy people, however, history is also full of ordinary people who have shown so much courage and love for their fellow man, they put their own lives in grave danger to save others. The Sharp's truly are hero's, my respect to all of those who helped save humanity from tyranny.
