  1. I was literally just thinking the same about wider 27” tires. I think there are some 1 3/8s out there. Sweet bike though—it looks fun!

Panaracer Pasela are a nice supple option. If you have brake adjustment room doing a 700c conversion allows for much larger tire volume – but with canti brakes that 4mm lower might not be doable. (630 vs 622 DIA).

ETA: it is likely possible to o a 700c but there are a few rare cases where the frame and common brakes cannot accommodate, but all the ones I’ve run into that on are much older. I wouldn’t be surprised if this bike came stock with 700c in one build spec at least – 1990 was getting towards the end of the 27” era.

  3. Kenda sell a 1 3/8 tire that is kinda knobby, Amazon sell some Chinese tires that are 27 3/8 in a road pattern. If you look on your bottom bracket, and wrote down the serial number you can look it up and find out exactly what year it is and what came on t. I have an 87 without canti’s and it came with 27″. I currently have the schwalbe road cruiser on it. Yours look like it is the ST800 that came with canti’s and 27″ tires.

    Hope this helps.

Swift Tire makes a decent 1 3/8 but you may never get them. My last order never arrived and they never responded to multiple emails. Had to open a dispute with my credit card.
