That’s crazy. I have swallowed a bee but it hit my tooth and knocked itself out. It was super scary because I knew it was a bee and it was kind of stuck in my throat. I definitely panicked and I remember thinking as I drank water, exactly where are you on the bike path if you need to call for an ambulance, and I didn’t know. That’s why I wear a mask in the summer.

Yikes on bikes! Identification and treatment of laryngeal edema +/- anaphylaxis is like, bread and butter emergency med. Makes me curious how the emergency tent was staffed for a cyclocross race of this size. Physician onsite? RNs? Paramedics? No treatment given and no call to 911 seems negligent, but I don’t know that much about how they are staffed, insurance requirements, etc.

They taught this in motorcycle safety class to keep your mouth shut just for that reason. Stay safe
