As long as there is no gap between the cup and the frame.

It’s fine. A few years back shimano moved to a smaller diameter spline interface for their bb’s, it does look odd with frames with space for the larger bb but there’s no functional difference.
Off topic but remember when Cannondale was renowned for their seamless almost hidden welds?
Dura ace BB is apparently smaller in diameter than other BB’s, hence the gap.
