Thinking about buying this used bike which has a dent just below where the braze on mount used to go. It’s an aluminum frame and I want to primarily use it for commuting plus probably about 200-400km of gravel riding a year. I am primarily a road bike rider so this would be my 2nd “beater” bike. The owner claims there are no cracks but I will double check that if I decide to go forward with the purchase. Does the frame still have a lot of life in it or is this a hard pass and not safe?

I would shy against a dent that large, close to the weld, and on the seat tube. Even without cracks

I wouldn’t trust this bike, looks the owner also cut off the braze-on for the front derailleur, who knows what this bike as been through and what other “modifications” they did to it, keep scrolling and find another bike

  3. Thanks for the recommendations. I will pass on the bike. The search continues for a budget friendly reliable disk brake gravel bike! Needs to be in good condition but look a bit rough around the edges so that a thieve doesn’t pick it out from a sea of commuter bikes.
