The Rear Foot Elevated (“Bulgarian”) Split Squat is one of the best exercises to build single leg strength, even out imbalances in your body and build the ability to put down force one leg at a time. Things that are beneficial for all athletes!

Honestly, it is a HARD exercise! Even when done correctly. Often I see people performing the movement with a poor set up that is not suited for their body.
