How’s it shift? I take its a 1x system? Something to me looks off but these new derailleurs with huge rear cogs just look weird.
Is the tab for the derailleur sitting correctly against the frame?
If so and everything shifts OK, ride on.

I think it’s fine, if it’s shifting fine, flip the clutch on and it will keep tension on

, your b screw is too far in, adjust it properly and you’ll probably wind up taking 1 link out of the chain 👍

I just installed my first 1×11 drivetrain with an 11×51 cassette and I’m wonder if the chain is the correct length too. So what I did is place the chain on the largest rear cog. and looked at how much smaller it could go, It looks like I’m just right as if the chain where much shorter the derailer would be tight against the stops.
But then I notice I can adjust the angle of the entire derailer. There is a screw that adjusts against the hanger. So I have two ways to set chain slac, the screw and cutting the chain.
This is also my first full-suspension bike. I’m a road bike rider. I understand Shimano 105 and Ultegra but this Deore 1×11 is new to me.
I can shift all the cogs when riding around my house but the larger cogs make a ticking noise so there is some fine-tuning adjustments I need to do.
So now my question: What are the best YouTube videos on this? I need a step-by-step procedure for adjusting a Deore 1×11 on a full-suspension MTB. Or even some photos of what it looks like when it is set up correctly. I’m close, it works, but shifting is not perfect.
I’d post photos but I don’t want this one issue fixed, I want to know in general how to work on this drivetrain.
BTW 30×51 gearing on a 26″ wheel is insane. I’m spinning the pedals but going so slow balance becomes an issue. I’m used to road bikes where 34×34 on 700c wheels is considered a “ridiculous” granny-gear. (Yes, I know I need this)
