For my first down builds (as pictured) I clocked in at 250/300€ per bike, which is a bit more than I’ve initially wanted to spend but at the moment I can’t rely on a big backlog of pin parts!
Want your limit? What do you usually spent on a bike?

I’ve done about 3-4 in the last year with another 2 to finish.
Price entirely depends on the condition, quality, rarity of the bike I’m building.
I did a specialised rockhopper that I got for £25, used spares I had and spent £35 on new bits for it. So it was £60 all in.
But I’ve also got a trek 930 I spent £90 on and have a £200+ shopping list I’m about to splash out on in the new year.
I’ve built hundreds of bikes, I worked in a shop in the 90’s and now I volunteer at a non-profit bike shop. For myself I have made at least a dozen in the last 20 years, they come and go as needed. My budget depends of the bike, commuters are at the bottom of the heap as they could be stolen and full restorations of nice bikes get what they need within reason of course.
I’m somewhere over 30 bikes rebuilt. Currently have 18. Gave away most of the ones I no longer have. Only sold one of them. Don’t keep track of what I’ve spent per bike, but the local LBS gets around $500 on average per month. Couldn’t place a cost per bike as most have been rebuilt multiple times. Keep finding better setups. Have bikes set up for specific riding areas now.
Just 4 for the past 15 years. I’m all about maintenance now. That said, if another Wojcik pops up, I’m gonna do my best to adopt it. As far as budget, 100/month.
I have built 5. I have no idea how much I spent on any of them but too much is the answer.
