My initial thoughts is that the clearance is too tight from tire to the fork crown crown. This is on my bikepacking bike, typically on dry sand/gravel.
Ive been looking at it too long and want some other perspectives!
Yeesh it’s close. I’m not terribly worried about the clearance to the crown on the second picture, but I feel like it would be tight on the sides?

The places I’d run a SID and need a 2.8 don’t really overlap.
But also yes, too tight. Believe 2.6 is the max spec.

It’s fine. Once in a few thousand miles you might get a rock sucked between tread and crown, but it almost certainly won’t damage anything or cause you to go otb.
Plenty of gravel bros run mtb tires on gravel bikes with way closer clearances than this and it works fine.
The only big big danger is thick mud, but it’s probably gonna be in your chainstays and crank first and that’s what will make the bike unrideable, not the crown clearance. That’d be almost the same problem with 2.6s too.
