Hi! I am trying to restore a Shimano FH-R080 hub on a used bike I recently found. The hub sounded slightly scratchy and I thought why not open it up and see what I can do about it.
Maybe regrease it and check the bearings for wear and tear.
This is my first time opening up a hub on a wheel. It’s a used wheel from the 90’s so I am not too worried about it (if I trash it, or if I can’t recover it, I can replace it).
Anyway, I was able to remove the caps and the bearings, but I can’t figure out how to remove the freehub body.
Is anyone familiar enough with Shimano hubs from the mid to late 90s to help me out?

Have you tried using a big allen key (10mm I think?) from both the drive side and the non-drive side? I had a freehub like that which loosened from the drive side to remove. I don’t know if standards have changed since the 90s, though.
I thought I was the last one with a SUP rim, although it is sitting in storage. It’s mostly waiting for someone that needs the 6/7 Dura Ace hub that is built on it.
