Caustic soda. Needs to sit for days, changing caustic often. Dangerous stuff, so wear ppe. You gotta really want that frame.

  2. RJ the Bike Guy went at it with a keyhole hacksaw. You can find it on Youtube. I have a Trek TX-700 sitting in my garage with a seized seat post and stem waiting for me to try Finish Line’s Cool Zone–I’m not optimistic. If you are really committed, there are ammonia-based chemicals that will dissolve the aluminum but not the steel. I would be out on the street if my wife caught me trying that in my townhouse garage.

    good luck.

  3. I had the same problem and I ended up throwing the frame, after spending hours trying everything that came to my mind. At least where I live, those kind of bikes are super cheap so I would put to much effort into this frame and just buy another one
