To be fair, they did literally get paid to do the “review” so I wasn’t expecting anything else from them. Not even saying that as a negative, I just don’t trust GCN with any kind of review videos, but I do enjoy their epic rides and similar content.

GCN has its place in my view, just don’t go there for independent product reviews.
Escape collective is a great source of content not driven by advertising. Not all of it is behind a paywall either (although worth the cost I think).
Now don’t accuse me of being a paid shill for EC.

I like a ton of their stuff, but you just need to pay attention when it says “Ad” on the video lol.
All these companies are paying GCN for airtime. It’s like when they compared Di2 105 to Dura Ace and for 20 minutes they said they couldn’t tell much of a diff and then at the end said DA was waay better.

GCN has never done reviews of any kind. Ever. And they have *always* been upfront about videos being ads or paid sponsorships.

As some are criticizing me of what I think as they aren’t a clear review channel I want to clarify my opinion. (Ofc you can still think i’am a jerk)
Me half a year ago saw only the tip of the iceberg -> GCN, especially their style makes it seem like a review but is a paid promotion. I therefore think that GCN is very biased and can influence your buying decisions drastically as your always exposed to their marketing. For example say the what to gift a cyclist, over on the tech channel, they don’t say a chain wax but specifically say „you must buy the silca stuff“ (not saying that it’s bad, but more saying that it’s always biased.
