Adjusting aeroad cp0048 cockpit height

While adjusting the cockpit height, the headset bearings top and bottom came loose out of their position

I just used my fingers to place it back in place and got everything seated tightly but there seems to be some gaps

I wanted to check if these gaps are normal, I couldn’t get the gaps to be flush with just my fingers but maybe I need to try harder?

In the top down photo, in the gap there is a small hole, is that normal?
