Back around 2005 or 2006 my best friend began building out this keirin racing frame that he had imported from Japan. He spent months sourcing NJS certified parts so it would be as authentic as possible, if I remember correctly, the rims are the only part not NJS stamped. We were roommates then and i think I was just as excited as he was when he finished it. On June 21 2015, Michael lost his battle with depression and alcoholism, it was and still is difficult to sit with. Michael’s mom contacted me a few weeks ago and we chatted a bit then she told me her and Michael’s dad were selling their house to move into something smaller. She had remembered that I told her that bike was priceless and she asked if I would like to have it. I got it this morning and it was surreal to be in the childhood home of my best buddy again. It has been sitting in storage for nine years so it needs some TLC which I will work on after Christmas. For the most part I plan on making it a wall hanger in my apartment but o definitely plan on riding it on special occasions or just when I miss my friend.
