One athlete told AFP “the only issue” about living in the Village is the “food shortages” and when another was asked if anything was missing, he boldly stated: “meat”.

According to The Washington Post, the vegetarian-heavy menu was set to minimise the carbon footprint of the Games, but the athletes who wanted meat were left disappointed.

Representatives from Team Great Britain claimed the food was “not adequate” and brought their own chefs to support athletes who didn’t want to eat in the Olympic Village.

Following the complaints, Paris 2024 authorities are said to have increased the supply of food to match the demand. A “reinforcement in animal proteins with 700 kilos of eggs and a tonne of meat” made its way into the kitchen earlier this week.

  1. ud think olypians would be treated like royalty they r the TOP ATHLETES OF THEIR ENTIRE COUNTRY and they could of slept and been fed better in a NY city honeless shelter then what they got in the "village" Paris really dropped the ball. did they spend all their funsing on the opening entertainment so they didnt have enough to feed or house comfortably these ahtletes???

  2. This is just as bad as U.S. high school coaches expecting athletes to over-perform despite having nothing but pizza, canned fruit, and milk at 10:30am.

  3. the irony – all restraunts and bars in Paris were lacking vegetarian options, it was hard to find anything without ham/fish/meat in general. But the athletes should be limited to veggie options – are you kidding me?

  4. This is sad. The Olympics were incredible – thanks to the ATHLETES. France bungled this being EXTRA as the French can be. Hopefully we can avoid Europe as the games continue to choose locations.

  5. Some athletes wanted to eat like tourists in Macdonald's 😅 the athletes nutrition wasn't good for them 😮 A waiter in this restaurant said since it's free the athletes eat all day long double and triple rations!!.. So no surprises if there's a supply shortage!! 😊

  6. The dirty Seine River, the lack of quality in the medals, the transportation complaints, the lack of living accommodation to include air conditioning, and now the food. Corners being cut big time.

  7. Why are they disguising their cost-cutting measures as lowering the "carbon footprint". Like tf if you wanna lower the carbon footprint how about not hosting the olympics in the first place? No one gives a shit about being environmentally friendly at the biggest sports event in the world so how about they just pass it to another country if they're so desperate to become the saviors of carbon footprint.

  8. meat protein is essential for building muscles. especially if they’re already used to their usual diet. France really fucked this one up with their trying to be “eco – friendly”

  9. For the people in the comments claiming plant protein will provide olympians with enough protein to sustain their excertion: name one olympian that is vegan. And no Raygun doesnt count.

  10. I went to a university in France for 5 months the food in the Cafeteria was pitiful! One day a wk they had beef tongue disgusting 😟 can u believe it? How dare they do this to students
