Tales from the Cab, Film Locations, and some Bad Driving.
Putney Fulham Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush are all in this episode

Just the usual bunch of rule Breakers in this video.
It’s just me driving in and around London mainly in the Surrey areas seeing stupid drivers everywhere I go.

  1. Amazing episode. Loved the story of your mates incident and the Quadrophenia facts. I also loved the info on the shops including the Pie and Mash. Being from Liverpool we never had pie and mash shops or jellied eels and I feel we are the poorer for that. Would love to see regional foods like these introduced country wide and hopefully they never die out. I owe it to myself to take a trip to London to taste some authentic regional food. I promise to remember to use a fork and spoon with my pie and mash.

  2. Quadrophenia – what a great film and great album!
I had a nasty feeling when you mentioned the drunk driver was a police officer. As an idle thought, is asking (especially) a minor (I assume Eric was under 18) directly about the settling of a case without a lawyer or parents actively present perverting the course of justice?

  3. As to question can you see this happening today the answer is yes and does go on i can't say on here but let's just say enfield is the same Telford and if you know you know why I can't say anymore than that

  4. Re your tale of your mate at 11:00. Back in the 90s I used to cycle a lot on a racing bike. To work, home, everywhere. One day, lunchtime from work, I'd popped down the road (1/4 mile maybe) from work to a shop, and then was heading home. I was moving at a decent speed, when a woman opened her car door in front of me, and wham. Now, until around two months earlier, this was one way, but on that day, they had buses moving in the opposite direction, and there were a lot of buses using the other side of the road, which is where I landed. I was so lucky that it must have been the only time of the day when there was not a bus in sight (proves I wasn't waiting for one, since there is never a bus in sight when you want one). Unfortunately, I was still ambulanced to hospital, and I spent two weeks on crutches as a result (and a week off work). Back then, we weren't snowflakes (I was married at the time, so was in my 20s) and I accepted repairs to my bike by the car driver. Snowflakes would have sued the old dear for everything she had. I believe that she was done for undue care and attention, but that wasn't me – it was a witness.

  5. And in real life, those poor old mods ran away from the rockers. I wasn't there at Brighton, but I was there at Belle Vue in Manchester, and I was a rocker. I speak from experience. A hairdryer V a bike – no contest.

  6. Right at the beginning the car behind was a grey Volvo. I notice that for some strange reason a lot of new cars are grey. Is there a paint shortage so they leave them in the undercoat. I think they look awful.

  7. This might interest you Victor, my neighbour’s lad failed his first driving test because he did not use an empty bus lane travelling towards Morden on St Helier Avenue during the test, obviously before the Stasi made all of them 24/7.

BTW that stretch of the High Street at the junction with Lower Richmond Road at Putney Bridge has a bar brilliantly named “Tequilla Mockingbird” fans of Harper Lee rejoice (or recoil?).

As for your Fulham Palace Road mate’s crash, you didn’t know how many people were driving? I’d guess it was one.

  8. Great tour around a part of London I know from my time living there till 11 years ago. I remember the chippy near Hammersmith Apollo where the car park was. Great times

  9. I remember the roller disco well! I used to go and see my Nan on King Street in the flats overlooking the tube tracks. I used to beg her to go but I was too young 😂 seeing Hammersmith now, I don't even recognise it, it's changed so much! I lived in Northolt (Laymead Close) back when the Target roundabout had the Target pub on it and not a McDonald's. I'm loving this series, thank you.
