Hi guys,

I recently bought a velobike Elite SS Ti Track Sprocket 12t, but the lockring on my Mavic Ellipse is too big for the chain to stay on. Velobike sells a special lockring but it won't fit on a Mavic ellipse wheel.

Do you guys know any lockring that could fit ?
I need one in this size : 1,37 x 24 TPI

(The Sprocket is too expensive for me to get a refund, 94€ + 30€ shipping cost + 39€ taxes)

12 is super small. You’d be better off getting a bigger cog to solve your issue while also giving more flexibility with chainring choice.

  2. Velobike tells me to run without lockring on the track but I’m not in a velodrome and Mavic tells me to go ask around bike shops (very helpful)
So I’m actually considering supergluing it (that can’t be a good idea right?)

  3. you need a french threader lockring, campagnolo makes or mavic if you find a low profile one. italian or english thread its a bit more small and doesnt fit.

  4. I’d guess the only place to rock a 12t is the velodrome? So simply don’t use a lockring?

Sell the 12t and get something else. Outside of a velodrome it simply doesn‘t make sense to run one.

  6. You need whats known as a stepped lockring to give the chain clearance around your little 12t. There are lots of them out in the world. But your Ellipses complicate it. I do not know nor care to look if there is such a thing as a stepped lockring to fit that threading. Good luck.

  7. I don’t know about anybody else but it sure looks like the pitch of that chain and that sprocket do not match.

  8. You bought a fancy cog. You might be best to turn into jewelry or just resell it for as close as much as you paid for it to recoupe the costs.

Unless you can find a super low profile lockring.
