Picked up the Aero Mighty crankset for $5 without a chainring which I thought was a score. Ordered a chainring for it and it doesn't fit? They are both definitely 144bcd. Do I need to find a Sugino chainring instead? I've never had this problem before. With one bolt in I can't get a single other bolt to fit.

Rather than putting in one bolt and tightening it. Did you try putting in all the bolts loosely, then tightening each one of them a little bit until they were all tight?
Miche, Specialites TA, & Sugino make 144bcd as well. Campy and Shimano may be too cost prohibitive for your needs.
