Just picked up this old orange e2 to replace my Steele rockhopper. I heard this frame was fairly nutorious for cracking and to check diligently when it arrives. Doesn’t appear to have any cracks however there are a fair few spots of corrosion under the clear coat. Any tips on cleaning up and removing the corrosion? Or is the frame cooked?

The most concerning is the corrosion around the brake bosses. You’ll have to grind it and see how far down it goes. The failure will be benign and not dangerous, you’ll just break the boss off eventually under braking. Hows the bottom bracket shell?
