Hi! I’m looking to buy my first road bike – a Giant OCR1 on Marketplace for $300. Is this cassette damaged? Aren’t the cogs supposed to be aligned? I am new to biking so I really have no clue.

Nah looks fine. They are positioned for best shifts, but this rarely means aligned
Yea that’s bad, I would remove the cassette to check the hub.
If its just the cassette you can just replace it.
Can’t see it, too poor quality. Cogs must be centered, that’s true.
It’s a used bike.
Expect to replace chain cassette and brake pads.
But you should definitely still buy it.
Is it just me or are there 3 cogs and some sort of spacer out of position? 5-7 starting from the back. Also those three are very worn. If those cogs are completely broken off and moving freely then maybe things are just very worn, if not then there is something odd with the axle. The wheel lacing is unusual. There is a missing spoke in the 7 o clock position. It would be interesting to see more of the bike. Edit: Looks like I misinterpreted the photo.
Just so you know that’s a pretty old bike. That rear derailleur, Ultegra 6600 10 speed, dates back to between 2005 and 2008 and those will be the original wheels because that was the style and they have the ‘dork disc’ still fitted.
Brake rims wear out on wheels with use requiring replacement wheels, so I’d be thinking about budgeting for them as well.
I hope you like unique decorations that make people think “how tf”, if not you can ship that to me, that is kinda toast, 6th and 7th cogs are off axis, cogs are supposed to be coaxial with eachother.
Btw a lot of us would have appreciated if you clarified that you aren’t talking about the teeth, you said you were a newbie so not realising you cant align every tooth of two cogs if they dont have the same number of teeth is possible 😀
