Aylesbury Parkrun under water

Filmed in January 2024 – Aylesbury Parkrun takes place at the fields opposite the Quarrendon & Meadowcroft Community Centre, Aylesbury, HP19 9HH.

The course is 5000m (5k) long. It has been accurately measured with a professional measuring wheel. The course is in the fields across from the Quarrendon & Meadowcroft Community Centre. The course is run entirely on cycle paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Aylesbury Parkrun course is through a floodplain which often floods, luckily there is an ‘Alternative’ course.

The Aylesbury floodplain refers to the area around the River Thame, which runs through the town of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, England. This floodplain has been shaped by centuries of natural river dynamics and human intervention.

The River Thame meanders across the floodplain, creating a network of channels and wetlands that support diverse ecosystems. The floodplain’s topography consists of gently sloping lands adjacent to the river, with some areas being more prone to flooding than others.
