So I’m almost done modernizing this $100 iron horse azure comp. Shortened the stem to 50 mm put a 780 mm wide 40° rise handlebars and a one by 11 drivetrain. A fellow in my area was selling a Fox TALAS RCL Fork which has been recently serviced for $60, because I felt the original rock shod recon 327 fell a little short because it didn’t even have a simple lockout. The TALAS has three positions of travel with a simple switch 100 mm 120 mm and 140mm.
The more I research the more I see mixed reviews about the performance. Since it’s for a summer build bike I’m wondering if that’s going to be an issue for the month and a half I ride it over the summer at the family vacation location.

i think it’ll get the job done. a dropper post might make it more fun but I wouldn’t worry too much about changing anything else!
You should just ride your bike and find out yourself
Dropper post is a very noticeable upgrade for not much money.
You could also mess with an angled headset and more fork offset to get the steer tube angle down closer to 70deg
